So, County Parks, the Planning Commission, the Board of Supervisors, and many who purport to be lovers and guardians of the Reserve are adamant that dogs off-leash will be an ecological disaster for the pristene wilderness that is the Pillar Point bluffs, but nobody except Reuben is going to bat an eye at an 8,000-pound vehicle tearing up the landscape for a photo op? Really?

Cypress Ridge Is a Go (March 15, 2024)
On Wednesday evening, the Planning Commission voted 4-0 to recommend the project for approval by the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors. No word on a dedicated bike path from Moonridge to Montara or any safe crossings in the Midcoast.

Where the rip-rap ends, the damage begins. In 2015, Caltrans was told that this exact thing would happen in this exact spot, but whaddya going to do, rip-rap the entire California coastline? Of course not, you could shotcrete it instead like they did at the Medio Creek Bridge. How's that working out?

The statue of Spanish explorer Gaspar de Portola--"discoverer" of San Francisco Bay--was unceremiously removed from its pedestal in front of the Pacifica Community Center at the corner of Crespi Drive and the Cabrillo Highway in Pacifica last Thursday. No word whether Crespi Drive--named for Franciscan missionary and Portola expedition member Juan Crespi--and the Cabrillo Highway--named for Spanish explorer and "discover" of California Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo--will also be removed or renamed.

The Coastside News Group Inc has announced that as of February 5, the Half Moon Bay Review newsPAPER will be digital only. One of the reasons cited was the increased opportunities for advertising on the digital platform. Please note that the ad below was run as a banner ad on the Review's online site the day after the mass shootings in Half Moon Bay. CGNI claimed they had no control over the running of this ad on that day. There is no way this ad would ever be run in their print edition. So this is better?
